I'm a librarian in a public library in a college town and a recovering English major who came to romance novels later in life than most avid readers. When I was in library school, my friend Katie convinced me to read Montana Sky by Nora Roberts, and I was immediately hooked. Then I took a reader's advisory class with a local librarian who was a romance fan, and I was introduced to historical and erotic romance. That was almost ten years ago, and I've been reading romance and fighting literary snobbery ever since.
I'm married and I have four cats-all female. I have been told that it's amazing that they get along as well as they do. My husband and I volunteer for a local cat rescue, and we are pretty close to being "crazy cat people." I think we're probably one cat away from it. I am also a (very) amateur musician, and I'm working my way through Bach's flute sonatas. My other hobbies include knitting (especially socks) and baking (especially cookies and cakes).

What I'm a sucker for in a book: Unique settings/eras, intelligent heroines
What I don't particularly care for in a book: Suspenseful subplots that suddenly appear for no reason at all, authors capitalizing on overused trends (vampires, shapeshifters, etc.)
What drives me absolutely nuts in a book: Modern phrases in historical romances, contemporary names assigned to historical characters (e.g., Viscount Jayden Chesterfield - ugh), mash-ups, limp-dishrag heroines
