: Jennifer, I can see why you'd perceive it that way, but the fact is, someone who doesn't know who LLB is is likely someone who has never visited AAR before. Her identity is hardly some cliquish inside joke. There is a difference (a big one) between being a newcomer and being a troll. IMO, a lot of the unfamiliar names that have posted in the past several days are the latter; they've come here solely because they've heard of this controversy on another site, and they want to stir up trouble. I have no respect for that.

: As for "author bashing" it's all in the eye of the beholder. From where I stand, the vast majority of romance sites are devoted to author ass-kissing. That doesn't interest me. I care about books, not authors. So messages boards where virtually every post is "author x, you are just the bestest person, ever, and your latest book is surely the cure for cancer!!!!!" bore me.

: People who don't like the way things are done at AAR SHOULDN'T COME HERE. That's JMO, obviously. But I do get tired of people who come here and try to bully everyone and turn AAR into a clone of all of those fansites.

Sunny,
I understand what you are saying, but there is a big difference from disliking someones work, (and sorry you can't take that away from authors, the story is the important part to the reader of course but the author is the one who created the story itself) and saying "I didn't like your story because..." and author bashing, just like there is a big difference to "I like your stories because..." and kissing ass. What happens here is just at times cruel, I guess it is in eye of the beholder because what I tend to behold just looks like mean spirited people who don't have anything better with their lives than try to hurt other people who have the guts to write, but just as you said that is JMO. As for, "People who don't like the way things are done at AAR SHOULDN'T COME HERE. That's JMO, obviously. But I do get tired of people who come here and try to bully everyone and turn AAR into a clone of all of those fansites." I have been coming to this site, and yes for the most part just reading and watching because the few times I contributed I was bashed myself for being an outsider, for well over two years now, it started out good, but maybe it is just me and I am seeing things because it is JMO again, it has been slowly turning into a place where everyone who doesn't like an author comes to and lets the "world" know how they feel as cruelly as possible and then they are applauded for that cruelity so they think it is okay. I don't like ass kissing, I don't do any ass-kissing either, but I also don't set out to purposely try to hurt others, if I don't like what they write well, I don't read it. I think what needs to be done is in big, red, flashing letters on the home page it should read "authors not welcome unless you have a ultra-thick hide because you WILL be bashed." Oh and I must add the cliche' disclaimer of this is just my opinion or as most know it as JMO.
Jennifer
