I used to be the PR person for a hospital, and I assure you that never once did a newspaper or radio station or TV station accurately report what we had sent to them. They even put "spin" on very dry press releases advertising charity events.

I am so sorry that you are being hurt by this phenomenon, and I encourage everyone to bear in mind that the media does NOT usually report things correctly, nor do they retract errors eagerly. They have to be more cautious reporting crime scenes and such, but as far as features go, they virtually have carte blanche.
