What I find interesting is that the DIK here, Patterns of Love, is a romance novel that is unique for me in that it is very spiritually imbued without ever once whumping me over the head with "accepting God and Jesus into my life."
Religion and belief are part of the fabric of this book. I loved that because the way religion is interwoven into all the aspects of the characters' lives here reflects the way it is in real life for many people--something that's part of how we live, if not the overwhelming focus of how we live (which is, unfortunately, how many inspirationals come across to me).
And I've always held this book in its own special corner for the unique way it does this (with a darned good romance besides). So I'm saddened to think that the author would discredit all of her romance novels. If you look at how they were written, you can see her steady spritual progression reflected in them. To dismiss all of them entirely is regrettable.
(BTW, Patterns of Love was adapted for the inspirational market and republished by Zondervan. The edition to which I refer is the original, published by Harper.)
