Cathy -

I too hate the idea that anyone's words would be taken out of context. I'd like to add, though, that I've been interviewed by non-romance journalists a couple of times and am always extremely careful of every word I say because I assume those outside the genre will look for any way to disparage it. My assumption from all the authors I've interviewed over the years is that even though they know I'm in the gnere, they too are careful. My further assumption is that they are even more careful w/outside journalists for the same reason I mentioned. Finally, any author who was an RWA past president is interviewed many, many times during her presidency by outside journalists.

No conclusions, just further ruminations.
