Robin gives (i.e., she gets "addicted") and cautions all of her friends against it. But she also won't watch cable tv for the same reason (i.e. she gets obsessive about it). If she were quoted by an anti-TV nut to show why television is addictive, nobody would pay her any mind (I certainly don't pay her any mind *G*). Yes, you can be addicted to anything--but that doesn't mean you denigrate the source of the addiction.
And my husband has always said this same woman is addicted to religion--everything revolves around her church and she and her husband give far more to the church than the ten percent tithe that the Baptists say the Bible requires. They give so much that they are seriously in debt. Hmmm. Giving money to the point where you neglect your family and duties . . . sounds like an unhealthy addiction to me. I guess that means church is bad for everybody (note the sarcasm).
