I got my first romance novel when I was a sophomore in high school. My best friend dared me to buy it from a used book sale. The cover was borderline obscene, the title was completely ridiculous, and the minute she opened it up it was to a very graphic love scene. I thought it would be hilarious and awful, and I’d tell her all about how bad it was the next week (obviously, some of the stereotypes about romance novels had persisted in my mind). Then, lo and behold, I liked it. I haven't looked back.
I split my time between northern New Jersey and Washington, DC where I'm a college student at American University and majoring in International Studies. Besides romance novels, I also enjoy politics, modern art museums, NPR, and baking cookies.

What I'm a sucker for in a book: Smart heroines, tortured heroes, heroes who aren’t afraid of their feelings, characters that need to be rescued, great secondary characters, angst, marriages of convenience, confident/arrogant heroes.
What I don't particularly care for in a book: Plots with wills that make ridiculous demands, first person narration, the medieval time period, really obviously symbolic dream sequences, characters who realize they’re in love like they got struck by lightening, “amnesia,” mistaken identity stories, paranormals, H/H having older children, contrived and scripted dialogue, scenes that make the reader embarrassed for the heroine.
What drives me absolutely nuts in a book: TSTL heroines, unnecessary melodrama, ex-spouses getting back together, time travel/ghost romances.
