About Me |
My mother taught me to read at about age 3, and I was nothing but trouble from then on.
No matter where I was, I had a book with me. And every night my mother would have to turn off
my light at least three times (I think she usually gave up after five). Teachers complained that I either
had my nose in a book, or pressed flat to my desk, as I caught up on the sleep I'd missed the night before,
from reading into the wee hours. Some things never change!
Today, I have a degree in English and work for a non-profit organization that supports childcare
providers. I can usually be found with my nose in a novel by Elizabeth Lowell/Ann Maxwell, Susan Elizabeth
Phillips, Anne Gracie or Teresa Medeiros, but am also often to be spotted devouring SF/fantasy and
occasionally other genres - once in a while even non-fiction. As a reviewer, I hope to be able to
indulge my second favorite hobby, talking about what I just read, and I welcome discussion on any comments I
make. Nothing makes life more interesting than different ideas.

Personal Reading Tastes |
What I'm a sucker for in a book: Alpha males (not heels), heroines
who don't realize their attractiveness or good points, unusual settings,
unusual plots, May/December romances (which is a bit of a guilty pleasure).
What I don't particularly care for in a book: Adultery stories,
Westerns (mostly), secret babies, long separations, excessive bitterness between
the h/h, prolonged Big Misunderstandings (or an extensive series of little
misunderstandings), badly-written accents or brogues, or dialogue written in
a foreign language that the author clearly doesn't speak.
What drives me absolutely nuts in a book: Spunky heroines where
spunky = brainless, heroes who are "tortured" for no good reason, any character
who is repeatedly described as intelligent while acting like a moron.
