Pink Ice is the type of anthology I can sink my teeth into: four inter-connected stories that are woven together as much as they are distinctly separated. Three sisters, one jewel thief, and a pair of pink diamond earrings made for an enjoyable read. Two stories sparkled more than the others but I wouldn’t have traded the experience.

Contemporary Romance
Pink Champagne
Sabrina Graham is the current owner of a pair of pink diamond earrings once owned by an 80s fashion icon. She dragged her two sisters to the celebrity’s estate auction and talked them into a co-ownership of the jewels. It’s currently Sabrina’s turn and she is using them to help boost her confidence and crash society parties. Being a middle sister, Sabrina never gained much attention. But borrowing a few gowns from work and sneaking into balls and garden parties gives her a chance to be Cinderella, even if only for an hour. Soon she (and her earrings) catch the attention of Ian West, a recovered thief now working as an investigator for insurance companies. Believing she may be in danger, Ian turns into her bodyguard while they use Sabrina and the diamonds as bait to catch a thief.

This is a great start to the anthology. Sabrina is my favorite Graham sister and Ian is to die for. I kept a good mental picture of our new James Bond, Daniel Craig in my head for him. Not too shabby. I can definitely see the chemistry between the two and they are hands down my favorite couple in the book. Grade: A-

Contemporary Romance
Touch of Pink
Lindsay is the oldest and most responsible sister. She is organized and borderline prim - except when she takes short vacations and lets it all hang loose. At the start of this story, Lindsay is getting ready to leave Hawaii and the fabulous man she met on vacation. When she returns home she is sans one earring. She doesn’t know much about Dominic Stark (her vacation plaything), but knows he is the only possibility for the missing earring. Dominic might be a rich man and not very clever at thievery, but he wants the earrings for a more personal reason. He also seems to be falling for the woman he was only using and decides to give her a chance to get the errant earring back.

Nothing bad here just not quite enough spark. Dominic is very sexy, but Lindsay seemed too uptight without ever relaxing. I liked how the author thrust us right into the story without going back to where they first met. And the scene on the balcony was one of the hottest of the book. Grade: B-

Contemporary Romance
Pink Positive
Nicole’s story is set up in the previous one with Nicole nervous about meeting up with a man she has worked with on and off for the past year. Alex Rafferty is in charge on the Royal Jewels (from a never mentioned foreign country). Nicole is the museum curator in charge of the show and must collaborate with Alex in order to put on a good display while keeping within the strict guidelines Alex sets. When Nicole dons the pink diamonds, Alex knows there is a history there about which Nicole and her sisters remain unaware. With the obvious attraction and growing affection between Alex and Nicole, Alex must choose what to do about the dilemma of the diamonds.

Alex and Nicole are great characters, but their story stinks. Maybe it was the vagueness of the “Royal Family” that hampered it or just the cheesy plot line. Either way it didn’t work well. Grade: C-

Contemporary Romance
In the Pink
Mercer Whitley-Cooke is the jewel thief who went after the diamonds in the first story. Now it's a year later, her stint in prison is over, and she’s working as a waitress for a high class caterer. She has cleaned up her act, but has one more thing she needs to do before she goes on with her life: Get her hands on the diamonds. The opportunity arises when a housewarming party for one of the Graham sisters is being catered by her company. She knows this will probably be her only chance at the diamonds and sets out to get them. Only problem is that the head of security for the party is a former detective who followed Mercer’s case in the past. He’s also as hot for her - and she is for him - but Mercer’s life of crime and his profession stand in their way.

I had my doubts about Mercer’s story. In Pink Champagne she is portrayed as a wealthy, botoxed, blonde witch and that just doesn’t scream romance material to me. I was quite surprised when her story turned out to be my favorite. Mercer is wonderful even if she is a bit rough around the edges. The romance aspect wasn’t very developed, yet I don’t think the story would have worked as well had it been. Grade: A-

In the end Pink Ice was a good read. The stories are easy to read and laced with four wonderful men. Be warned, though, the cover states “four all-new erotic tales.” Maybe my senses have been dulled a bit, but I wouldn’t classify any of the tales as erotic. Hot, yes. Nothing more.
