Cyrano de Bergerac is based on the play by Edmond Rostand and has been made numerous times - even as a cartoon with Mr. Magoo! It's always affecting and the dialogue (especially the insults - which were fun trading in High School) is brilliant. I think Roxanne is the only version with a happy ending.
