Has anyone heard any buzz about this book, full title: Last Chance Cowboys: The Drifter (Where the Trail Ends)? I stumbled across a strong B+ review for this "old fashioned" western but only a few postings on Amazon and Goodreads (4.00/four ratings). It seems to me from Amazon that this author had previously written inspies but this book is published by Sourcebooks Casablanca and looks to be the start of a series. Since I'm always looking for westerns but don't know this author, I thought I'd throw this out for anyone's thoughts. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat! I may just buy it anyway. If so, I'll post back with my thoughts.

@PegS-- I did get the book and read it, finding it to be a pleasant read. The recent Goodreads grade is 3.78, and I had been thinking something like 3.75, so.... It's about cattle ranchers with the big, powerful outfit threatening the smaller ranchers. The lead characters are likable with a romance developing of course but the story feels more like a western--although without shoot-outs or overly dramatic action of that sort. A "quiet," slowly evolving story I would say, not breaking new ground necessarily but pleasant nonetheless. I doubt it would appeal to readers who like angsty books with multiple plot twists or tortured characters. Anyway, that was my response. It's the first in the series and I'm likely to read the next book, The Lawman, about the heroine's brother.

Thanks! I also ended up reading it a few days ago and had the same reaction. A nice, solid book, but nothing earth-shattering. A good "B" in my mind but certainly not a B+ or A. I will probably get the next book as well.
