per the Mary Balogh mailing list: the Kindle Snow Angel was a bootleg and she asked them to remove it, which they promptly did. _________________ "I say, don't read the classics -- try to discover your own classics; every life has its own." -- Rudolf Flesch, _How to Make Sense_ |

There are a couple of good deals on Amazon right now:
Flowers From the Storm, The Shadow and the Star, and The Hidden Heart by Laura Kinsale are $2.99 each.
Untie My Heard by Judith Ivory is $1.99
Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase is $3.99, most of her other books are on sale for $4.99
Who Will Take This Man? and several others by Jacquie D'Alessandro are on sale for $1.99 (I've read this series and while it wasn't amazing it was definitely worth the read). |

Free on Kindle July 28th and 29th - Two wonderful m/m historicals. Both are DRM free so easily convertible to other formats for other devices
Tamara Allen: The Only Gold
Jonah Woolner's life is as prudently regulated as the bank where he works. It's a satisfying life until he's passed over for promotion in favor of newcomer Reid Hylliard. Brash and enterprising, Reid beguiles everyone except Jonah, who's convinced Reid's progressive ideas will be the bank's ruin. When Jonah begins to discover there's more to Reid than meets the eye, he risks succumbing to Reid's charms-but unlocking the vault to all of Reid's secrets could lead him down a dangerous path.
Losing his promotion-and perhaps his heart-is the least of Jonah's difficulties. When the vengeful son of a Union army vet descends upon the bank to steal a government deposit of half a million dollars during the deadliest blizzard to ever sweep New York, Jonah and Reid are trapped, at odds and fighting for their lives.
Tamara Allen: Downtime
FBI Agent Morgan Nash is on assignment in London when his case goes awry and he finds himself moments away from a bullet through the heart. But fate has other plans: Morgan is knocked out pursuing a suspect... and wakes up in 1888.
While cataloging ancient manuscripts at the British Museum, Ezra Glacenbie accidentally pulls Morgan out of the twenty-first century--an impromptu vacation that may become permanent for Morgan if they can't locate the spellbook Ezra used. Further hampering Morgan's quest to get home is the irresistible temptation to investigate history's most notorious serial killer. But in repressive Victorian London, the unexpected romance blossoming between Morgan and Ezra becomes the most dangerous complication of all. _________________ "My safe word is monkey" |

Jennifer Haymore's Confessions of an Improper Bride is $2.99 at Amazon, B&N, Kobo, etc.
I wonder if anyone has read this book or has an opinion about Haymore? I wasn't interested in her first book with that messy love triangle, and haven't looked at her since. I am wondering if she's worth a try at this price. |

I could barely finish that book. I don't think I liked any of the characters and I hated the way it ended. Spoiler: Everyone besides those closest to her still think she's her dead twin. She continues to live a lie. I haven't read the next books in the series and don't plan to.

I, too, avoided the love triangle one, but I read the sequel (about the other guy in the triangle), and I remember thinking it was okay. I don't remember it all that well, but it certainly wasn't bad. There were a few points that kind of annoyed me, but nothing huge.
From this book, I thought the h in the first one and the H of this one divorced. It has been a while, though, so I might be remembering wrong. |

I've read three of her books, the post-love triangle (has Christmas in the title), this one, and the second in the Donovan series (which I reviewed here). All were C-reads, personally. Very uneven. She kind of reminds me of early Anne Mallory, where the promise was there but just never came through. _________________ Jean AAR
