Looks like PBS is going to run a documentary about the worldwide Harlequin phenomenon on their series POV on July 12. Here's a trailer :

IIRC this doc aired in Canada a few years ago. I wanted to see it then so I'm pleased it's made its way south. Thanks for the heads up! _________________ Manda Collins |

"Not the Regency pose."
ROFL.
OK, I'll have to watch for that. Times I wish for DVR.

If you miss the airing they have most of their shows available nonlinear for quite a while after broadcast at http://www.Pbs.org. _________________ Justin managed to look superior and bored and disbelieving all at once. No mean feat for a man who'd just fallen from a tree. |

It's on at 11:00pm EST. I just scheduled the recording.
Thanks for mentioning this show! Looking forward to it. |

| Thanks NoirFemme and Bonnie for the response. However, I checked my local listing and it's showing that it won't be on till the 15th. I guess Verizon Fios won't let me see it on the 12th. Either that or the guide is wrong. |

This is quite possibly the worst show I've ever seen in my life. I deleted it after 10 minutes.
OMG, UGH! |

| If anyone wants to watch you can do so on-line by Googling PBS POV Guilty Pleasures. It only touches on mass produced Harlequins, but I thought it was an interesting look at 3 couples and how the women were influenced, and even helped, by these books to cope with the reality of their lives. I found the Japanese couple very heartwarming, especially at the end when it becomes obvious they are in love. I would like to have lunch with the woman from India and encourage her to move-on from her idiot ex-husband. She's beautiful and smart and deserves better. I did find it a little sad that everyones idea of physical beauty was based on western culture. It's certainly not a great documentary about the genre of Romance, but I thought it was well done and profiled some interesting characters. |

| I watched about 1/2 an hour, 1/2 an hour of wasted time. I can't believe that PBS bought it. No wonder they didn't show it in prime time. |

| I turned it on, and after 20 minutes of what seemed to be pointless blathering from completely uninteresting people, I gave up. Harlequin should sue for even being remotely connected to that mess. |
