A Brief Respite from the attacks

I'm not sure if you guys heard about the Al Smith Dinner, but it was held last night. Here's a video of the speeches made by McCain and Obama.

Pretty hysterical. I was impressed by John McCain, actually. He doesn't strike me as someone who has a sense of humor or comedic timing. All the jokes he tries to tell in debates fall flat, to say the least, but he did really well here.

However, some of my favorite parts were from Obama's speech. "Contrary to popular beleif, I was not born in a manger. Actually, I was born on Krypton, and sent here by my father to save Planet Earth." Very Happy

I watched some of it and thought it was great. Both candidates stepped up and did a wonderful job with humor.

Ah ... the political humor thread.

Anyway, my cousin, who is no liberal by any means, sent me the following link and it's just plain hilarious.

I remember seeing a few of these on David Letterman but I don't watch his show regularly. Apparently, he has decided to hang up the towel on his comedy bit, "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches." As such they did one final kiss-off, compiling and putting together some of the funniest ones.
