I don't think we have a gossip thread. And, I assure you, normally, I abhor gossip. Really. <snerk>.

I have to admit when I heard about this I was a bit stunned. He and Tea Leoni actually seemed normal for Hollywood! I did have a which came first moment -- did he come up with the tv show because of it or has immersing himself in the character caused problems? Interesting to know which it is.

First, I thought "Huh, what a coincidence."
And then I thought "Or what a great publicity gimmick."
I'm leaning toward the latter now.

While I can certainly respect Joaquin Phoenix's decision -- after all he's multi-talented -- I think it's a shame that we may not see any more films with him in a while.
