Turns out it's not just the Olympics that you guys are hogging gold medals from:
The world champion of Air Guitar 2008 is Mr. Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier from USA. My congratulations, truely a great performance! He's obviously mastered the "airness" factor of the sport.

ROTFL - One wonders why they spend so much energy learning to play the air guitar when they could use some of that learning to play the real thing :~)

 I guess you could see it like this: playing a "tangible" guitar is a different sport alltogether, with different skills required. Comparing the two is like comparing football and soccer. ;)

On a more serious note (if one is allowed to talk about serious notes in air guitar). The second song (and IMO the better of his perfomances) he perfoms on the clip is the "compulsory round", and the competitors only learn what song they'll be playing right before the beginning of the second round of performances. Which IMO only makes his that much more awesome. :D

(PS. The competition is judged by rules modelled after the rules in figure scating. That's why the points are given in decimals and 6.0 is the best each judge can give you...)
