| Hi all I am new to this forum. I apologize if this search has been done, but I couldn't find this search. I was wondering if anyone has any recs for romances in historicals or paranormals where the hero forces the heroine to either marry him or sleep with him. I have read all of anne stuart books, christine feehan books, and lisa kleypas' tempt me at twilight and whitney my love. I have been searching for silver-tongued devil but haven't found it. I appreciate any recs thanks! |

Hi there,
Here is a link to a list of books with arranged marriages. There is also a link to a list of shot gun weddings and marriages of convience. You can find other "plot device" list if you go under the Reader's Choice tab at the top of the page and click on Special tittle listings.

Hope this helps. |

As far as forced seduction:
Patricia Gaffney - To Have and to Hold
Lydia Joyce - Wicked Intentions
Sandra Schwabb - Lily Brand |

Most of Sarah McCarty's "Promise" books, if you want erotic books, have this as a device.
And of course, the book that started the modern romance book: Kathleen Woodiweiss's "The Flame and the Flower." This is old skool romance, meaning that the hero forces the woman to have sex. Some people hate this kind of romance, citing it as rape, but it was VERY common in the 70's and 80's. I don't know if it's too old for you or not.
Rosemary Rogers wrote many books with this plot, back in the day
My bet is that you like a strong, alpha hero. If so, have you tried J R Ward? You should start with her first book and you may fall in love with her, as so many people have. Very sexy books.
Of course, if you read the first chapter on Amazon, it'll give you a taste of a novel. As you probably already know, you can do this on your computer; you don't need a Kindle, etc. |

| Thanks for the help everyone! I have been looking for 'to have and to hold', no luck yet. I have tried some 70s/80s era books, but haven't found too many I love. I do adore 'Lily Brand' and J.r. ward is one of my favorite authors. Thanks for the link to the arranged marriages, maybe I'll find some more ideas there =) |

You can try Better World Books for To Have and to Hold, or wait a bit - Gaffney's backlist is being released as e-books (though fairly expensive ones, I must say), and I think the Wyckerley books will eventually be included in that. |

Don't forget, also to look in your library. I check there first, every time I want to order an old book, and most of the time, I end up saving myself a pretty penny.
If you liked Ward, have you read Thea Harrison's "Dragon Bound"? This has some of what you want, plus it's a GREAT read. One of the best romances, consistently voted #1 is "Lord of Scoundrels" by Loretta Chase. It has the situation you like--vaguely--but it's an excellent book.
Have you tried Christine Feehan’s Dark Series, beginning with her “The Dark Prince.” She was the first to write about paranormals with alpha men who MUST mate with their “life mate.” A lot of fun. |
