We liked this historical romance a lot. In our B+ review we wrote: This story is really wonderful for the most part. There is a poignancy about it that tears at the heartstrings. Alastair could have been an ass (and he most likely meant to be one), but he realizes early on that Diana has been badly wounded. Getting her to reveal why and how she has been wounded is the crux of the story. The timing the author uses to reveal Diana’s painful past is not drawn out, but realistic enough not to fall into the big mistake trope.

We’ve enjoyed other books in this series. Readers say it’s very spicy, has great banter, and is set in a very fun historical context.

We love many of Miranda Neville’s books–she is missed. This one is one of our faves. In our DIK review, we wrote: The romance is sensual and well-developed, and I particularly liked the comfortable domesticity that evolves between Julian and Jane during their after-dinner meetings. There’s plenty of humour and the plotline concerning the paintings and Julian’s guilt over the events of a decade ago is intriguing and satisfactorily resolved…. The Duke of Dark Desires is a terrific read, and one I recommend most highly.

We love Andersen’s romantic suspense. She’s one of the best writers of the genre IOHO. Amazon readers agree–this one has a 4.5 rating from over 18K readers.

We gave this historical romance a B+. We wrote the story puts a slightly different spin on the stuffy-aristocrat-unravelled-by-unconventional-heroine trope.  It’s this aspect of the story that marks it out as something a bit different; the heroine with reformist tendencies who shows the hero the error of his snobbish ways is an often used plotline, but the heroine’s experiences in this story add a touch of authenticity to her words, and serves to make her dedication to the various causes she espouses all the more believable and understandable.
