Romance Author Booksignings: August and Beyond

This month while looking for author booksignings I noticed that a number of authors are going to appear at book festivals around the country over the next few months. I became intrigued and starting searching for book festivals, as well as single-author signings, over the next few months. While many of the book festivals I checked out seem to mainly feature literary authors (not that there’s anything wrong with that), a few also have one or more romance authors, as well as many popular mystery authors.  A quick search revealed the following festivals over the next few months:

I would love to attend the Baltimore Book Festival from September 28-30. The Maryland Romance Writers group appears to have a strong presence at the event. I’ve personally attended two of the upcoming festivals in the past – the Texas Book Festival and the Kerrytown BookFest – and hope to attend more book festivals in the future.  How about you? Have you attended any recent book festivals? Do you know of any I’ve missed?

In addition to book festivals I’ve found a number of events around the country that AAR readers may be interested in. But, as always, I could use your help. Do you know of any authors who are coming to your home town? If so, please let us know about it. If you know of any events that we missed between now and mid-September, please post them in the comments section. If you know of any events occurring after mid-September, please send them to us at aarbooksign  AT gmail.com and we’ll add them to our mid-September post.

Disclaimer: I found these signings by extensive searches of both author and bookseller Web sites. They all appear to be free, but please contact the bookstore before you attend an event for additional information. And please let us know if you do attend a booksigning, and how you liked it. A few of the authors on the list aren’t strictly romance authors, but have either been reviewed at AAR in the past, or have appeared in AAR forum discussions.

  1. Maggie AAR says:

Wow! Thanks for putting all of this together. Wish I could attend some of the book festivals as I have never been but none are really near my home.

  2. Leigh says:

I wonder how authors feel about book signings? Do they get an emotional high from all the adulation or are they so tired of answering the questions of when will so and so get their book, where do you get ideas, etc?

I imagine it would be pretty depressing too to have a poor turn-out.

    Thanks LinnieGayl for the updates.

  3. LinnieGayl says:

    Thanks, Maggie and Leigh.

Leigh, that’s a really good question about how authors feel about signings. I have heard stories about one mystery author — now quite big — who was so excited when he had his first signing that anyone showed up, that he’s been going back to the same store for every book.

  4. lor says:

You have the date for the book signing at Turn the Page bookstore (Nora Roberts et al) as September 12th. The Turn the Page website has the date as September 15th. Can you check, please?

  5. Dianna Love says:

I wanted to stop by and say thank you for sharing my Sept 18th stop in Bowling Green,KY, which is part of a 2000 mile motorcycle ride I’m making to meet readers. I’ll also be in Indianapolis and Greenville, SC.

But I also wanted to reply to Leigh about how “I” feel about signings. I will never forget the first person who asked me to sign their book or how touched I was about how excited they were over the story. And it’s something that still makes me feel so honored to have readers take the time to come meet me. I totally understand how the mystery author Linnie mentioned feels.

And Maggie – because of fans who can’t make signing or now have e-books, I started a program called the Keeper Kase™ I’m thrilled to say many authors are participating in where we give away signed cover cards for free and you get can get them by mailing an SASE. There’s a list of authors already doing this at http://www.KeeperKase.com and it’s only been launched for about ten days. So I expect many more to jump on this bandwagon.

Thanks again for sharing my event and for doing so much for readers here. :)
