Eagerly Awaiting for June 2016

Here’s our monthly look at what titles we’re excited about reading in the next few weeks.  June boasts some highly anticipated titles by some of the biggest names in historical romance -Lisa Kleypas and Elizabeth Hoyt – as well as new books from Nalini Singh, Sarah Morgan, Jennifer Probst and sees Julie Anne Long making her début as an author of contemporary romance.

Here’s just a small selection of the titles AAR staffers are looking forward to getting stuck into.  Do you agree with us, or do you have some goodies to add to our TBRs?

Jeffe Kennedy’s Pages of the Mind.

After DIK’ing her short story Exact Warm Unholy in the erotic anthology The Devil’s Doorbell (my review is here), I’m looking forward to anything from this author. Caroline

While this is being hailed as the start of a new fantasy series, it includes an old favorite from the Twelve Kingdom series – Dafne the librarian. Really looking forward to seeing where the author will take us next in these fantastic fantasy romance books. –  Maggie

Elizabeth Hoyt’s Duke of Sin

Who doesn’t love a sexy bad-boy? At last, Valentine Napier, the manipulative, gorgeous and amoral Duke of Montgomery gets his own book.- Caz

I am finally almost caught up on the Maiden Lane books. I adore this series and have been doling each book out as a reward for tasks accomplished. I’m sure I’ll be ready when this one is released. – Heather

I have yet to read a book by Elizabeth Hoyt that is a stinker and most of them are close to DIKs for me.  So unless she’s lost her touch, Hoyt is an autobuy for me. – Mary

Elizabeth Hoyt’s historicals are reliably enjoyable. I can’t wait for Napier’s story. His scathing wit and hilarious blandishments have won me over in previous books. – Dabney

Lisa Kleypas’s Marrying Winterborne

Like almost everyone else I know who read Cold Hearted Rake, I was more invested in Rhys and Helen than the main couple and I can’t wait to read their story! – Caz

While I found the main romance in Cold Hearted Rake to be fairly tepid, Winterborne caught my interest and I’m looking forward to seeing what lies in store for his romance. Plus, I’m hoping we see more of my favorite character, Hamlet. – Heather

… because she’s a queen of romance and I loved the first Ravenels book and can’t wait for the second! – Kristen

Kleypas has always been one of my favorite historical romance authors.  Her books are not always DIK’s, but the quality is pretty consistent. – Sidney

Sarah Morgan’s Sleepless in Manhattan

Sarah Morgan is excellent. I have enjoyed all of her books I’ve read so far and I’ve already heard good buzz about this one, so I am excited to read it. I have it pre-ordered! – Haley

Having read and reviewed Midnight at Tiffany’s, I’m really looking forward to this. Sarah Morgan is now on my auto-buy list and in fact, I’m already eagerly awaiting the second in this series. – LinnieGayl

Lynda Aicher’s The Harder He Falls

This is from RITA Award finalist Lynda Aicher featuring rugged men who play hard for a living.’When it comes to one another’s hearts, they never back down—because behind closed doors, the games they play are very different.’ These books can be very problematic with regards masculinity and I wanted to see how this well thought of author handles it. – BJ

Elizabeth Camden’s From This Moment

Ms. Camden writes Inspirational Historical novels that weave a light element of faith into a rich historical tapestry. This story about a magazine owner/editor, Washington politics and an artist in search of her sister’s killer looks like a winner to me. – Maggie

Justin Cronin’s City of Mirrors – I really liked the first two books in the trilogy and have been waiting four years for the final book to come out.  – Sidney

Madeline Hunter’s The Wicked Duke

The previous books in this series have been intelligently written with well-constructed plots and steamy romances and I’m looking forward to more of the same. – Caz

Marguerite Kaye/Bronwyn Scott’s Scandal at the Midsummer Ball

I’m intrigued by the premise of Kaye’s story (a colonel meets a Russian acrobat?), especially in the hands of someone with a reputation for excellence in characterization. I don’t know Bronwyn Scott but I’d buy this for Kaye alone.  – Caroline

David Levithan & Nina LaCour’s You Know Me Well

This is a deeply honest story about navigating the joys and heartaches of first love, one truth at a time. I don’t read many YA titles, but this one sounds sweet, honest and intriguing. – BJ

Julie Anne Long’s Hot in Hellcat Canyon

I do love the way the author writes her prose. I am very interested to see how she does with her new full length contemporary. – Lee

I loved the contemporary epilogue of The Legend of Lyon Redmond and am interested to see Ms. Long move to that new sub-genre. Plus, who am I kidding? I’ll always read the latest Julie Anne Long. She’s one of my favorite romance writers! – Dabney

Jennifer Probst’s Everywhere and Every Way

I’ve missed the last few of Jennifer Probst’s books, but I enjoyed her Marriage to a Billionaire series, so I am looking forward to reading this new one. Haley

Nalini Singh’s Allegiance of Honor

The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world…” so says the back blurb of the author’s newest novel in the series. She’s done an amazing job of keeping the quality very high for these novels and I’m looking forward this read. – Maggie

Susan Wigg’s The Beekeeper’s Ball

Wiggs is one of my favorite authors and I love reading anything she’s written. – Kristen

Karen Witemeyer’s No Other Will Do

A woman with a desire to provide a safe haven for ladies with nowhere else to go and the man who has always been her champion unite to fight off an abuser determined to force them off their land. This author has delivered some of my favorite Western romances and this one looks like a real winner. –
