I am a fan of several series you mentioned Lea, Sookie Stackhouse, BDB -in which Jim Frangione is one of favorite narrators of any series.

I started a few books via audio instead of their written counterparts -
Immortals after dark by Kresley Cole. The series is narrated by Robert Petkoff who is wonderful.

Another series is the Riley Jenson, Guardian Series by Keri Arthur, narrated by Angela Dawe. The first book of the series was narrated by Justine Eyre and then Ms Dawe took over the series except for book 7.

The last series I’ll mention is the Elemental Assassin Series by Jennifer Estep. The series is narrated by another favorite narrator Lauren Fortgang. After listening to this ongoing series, when I think of Gin Blanco I hear Lauren’s voice chanting “enemy, enemy, enemy”.

I don’t think it’s necessary to re-listen if you don’t want to. In book 1, Eve and Roarke meet, book 2 they get engaged and Peabody appears, book 3, they get married and Eve remembers the night of her father’s death.

But definitely start listening to the series Lea!!

Michelle – with those words, you have convinced me to go on to book 4! I know I’m missing out – I really do. But my three listens have not been back to back – in fact, they occurred over an 18 mo. time period. Do you think I should repeat book 3 before continuing? That has been 2-3 years ago.

The In Death series was one that swept many of the categories in the 2011 Favorite Romance Audiobooks Poll. I am literally surrounded by audio listeners who absolutely love this series!

Well…Wow. I’m a bit speachless on that one. It was just starting to get really good by book 4…too bad. Really missing out on a great series. But – everybody’s got their own favs. I personally don’t care for contemporary and rarely read it. I need a good mystery plot to keep my attention . I enjoy your blog – keep up the great work!

I have yet to listen to Robert Petkoff (well, more than an hour – not his fault) but I hear such wonderful things about his narrations. I did start listening to one of the IMMORTALS AFTER DARK books but the heroine drove me a bit mad and when I read about her character, I realized it was unlikely my opinion of her would change and I stopped listening. I have been meaning to try another in the series – in fact, I have one in my iTunes library ready to go. Thanks for mentioning Kresley Cole’s immensely popular series.

It’s cool that we have had such a similar journey!

Speaking of Audiobooks is written as a personal journey unless indicated otherwise. I know the IN DEATH series is indeed a popular one but it hasn’t impressed me enough to go beyond book 3. Many thanks for adding it into the discussion for others to see as your favorite series!

Thanks Xe. I too am broadening my print reading but strangely enough, not in romance. I still stick to my original historical and contemporary titles for the most part when reading rather than listening. However, I’m returning more and more these days to print nonfiction titles – my original reading love.

Received an email today from the Ilona Andrews newsletter that a deal has been struck between Renee Raudman and Recorded Books. I too vowed I would not buy another audio book if Raudman didn’t narrate it. In fact, I decided to wait to begin the Edge series until Steel’s Edge was released in audio. What a relief that it will be recorded in January or February – HURRY!

Thought your article was terrific! It was as if I you were in my head. I find myself listening to paranormal far more than any other genre now. I’ve almost given up on historicals. Another series that I think is fantastic is Kresley Coles Immortals After Dark. I wish they would get the back list released quicker. Robert Petkoff is now my favorite male narrator. I haven’t tried the I Team books but now I’m intrigued with another male narrator. Thanks again for your thoughts.
