I love the audiobook columns as well. I just want to second or third LOL the notion of Loretta Chase audiobooks and hope that the publishers are listening related to requests for Mary Jo Putney’s backlist including her contemporaries like the Spiral Path and Judith McNaught’s backlist. I just read Paradise again and would love to listen to it.

I have recently gotten into audiobooks and I so appreciate this guidance! I felt really overwhelmed by all the choices, and I can already see how the narrator makes or breaks the story. Thanks so much for taking the time to write these columns!

I love listening to audio books and love my romances too, but the most frustrating thing with audio books is that quite a few audios are not available to the rest of the world.

In this digital age, there should NOT be any restrictions with “region only” books.

It’s just plain silly. Why cut out selling to the rest of the world?

Lea, is there a logical reason for this?

@Carrie – I know exactly what you mean about Karen White’s narration. She is very talented but I have had mixed success – I think it is something about how her voice sounds to my ear – I find the same with Justine Eyre actually. Both excellent narrators but they dont’ work for me quite as well as others. It’s not a British thing because I adore Davina Porter’s narration in the Outlander series and Richard Armitage (sigh) in the abriged Heyers I’ve listened to as well as others. Like you, I recognise it is a personal taste issue rather than one of talent however.

Dear any audio publisher: I would love to hear Pamela Clare’s books on audio and I second (third? fourth?) the notion of having Loretta Chase’s books available. Kthxbai

Wow – my mom is from Kenbridge, a small town near South Hill. I grew up in Richmond and then in North Chapel Hill – near the Eastgate shopping center. Very close to Durham. Small world!

In fact, Tantor took in our request for Loretta Chase a few weeks back over at our Goodreads group. I know they are looking into it but who knows what sorts of audio/digital rights issues they will encounter. Cassandra, our Tantor contact on GRs, offered this on Loretta Chase on 8/15,

That is funny! I live in south Durham, so I’m about 15 min from CH. I like the location because we can reach Durham, Raleigh and CH in no time. My husband is from southeast VA (Smithfield). Small world.
