I wanted to stop back by and thank everyone for the warm welcome! I'm very excited about learning from the veteran reviewers here. I've been pouring over past SOA columns and trolling the SOA group on goodreads for examples and inspiration. It's fun! It keeps me off the streets! It keeps me from cooking or cleaning the house! Yay!

Second Barbara Rosenblat's narration of The Indiscretion by Judith Ivory. Wish she narrated more romance.

Rosalyn Landor - she remains a work in progress for me. I have to agree with Melinda most of the time but I'm still trying. However, I thought she was perfect for Balogh's More Than a Mistress (sorry Karen!) because I thought the hero a rather harsh creature to begin with. Plus I was comparing Landor's narration to the original audio narration by Jenny Sterlin. Landor was a dream by comparison. I loved More Than a Mistress in print many years ago and after hearing the Sterlin audio version at a later date with her interpretation of a Duke who found it necessary to shout all the time, I found myself wondering what I had found to love. Landor reminded me of why I enjoyed the book in print - no overly angry hateful duke. She performed all the characters as written.

(sorry about the italics above - I meant to italicize the title Forbidden and emphasize the word "sometimes")

And another shout-out for Barbara Rosenblat as a wonderful narrator - the Amelia Peabody series, Judith Ivory's The Indiscretion, all excellent. Terrific hero voices. :)

Welcome Carrie! <i>Forbidden is a favorite re-listen for me for the very reasons you said - it's short, a little sweet, satisfying snack.

I agree that Rosalyn Landor is a great narrator - she's professional, her voice is wonderful, she differentiates characters. But she <i>sometimes</i> makes the hero sound very unhero-esque, and that is a deal-breaker for me. As a romance audio listener, I need the fantasy that the hero's voice is deep, smooth, debonair, swoon-worthy!

Happy Third Anniversary to SOA and Lea!

@Brenda - I had no preconceptions going in to the Jones listen so it was easier for me I guess. But, I agree, it wasn't a romance. There was a romantic thread but it is unresolved at the end of the book so how it can be classified as "romance" which, by genre convention, must have a HEA/HFN I don't know.

As for Butterfly Swords - I'd be interested in listening - I haven't read the book have have heard good things (*hint Lea hint*) :)
