This has been fun to read. When I filled out my annual reader poll, I had nearly all your favorite (historicals) in front of me. They were starred in my notebook, but the details had to be reread to determine best hero, etc.. It took a long time. My only favorite I don't see in your favorites is "One Night Is Never Enough" by Anne Mallory. I printed my answers so I could check them with the results when they come out.
This year I've started a sheet to write the details of every book to which I give a star. Next year the annual poll won't be so had to do.

It is so difficult to chose because I like books for different reason. Liar Bird was wonderful to me because of its originality. I loved the setting, and the surprise that the author had in store for me. Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts by Lucy Dillon incorporates my love of animals into a perfect women's fiction type book. Sunset Bridge by Emilie Richards is a very emotionally satisfying ending to a wonderful trilogy. When Beauty Tamed the Beast had so many layers - disability and long term pain, self esteem and looks, fear of change and love, redemption and forgiveness.
Just talking about them makes me want to do a re-read.
