A baby blanket, preferably knit from supersoft wool and a very easy pattern, would be ideal. There are a lot of options for easy patterns out there, and I do have time to do this. I really must get cracking on this!
Melinda, yay for your defense of NBBM! I think it's SEP's funniest laugh out loud book. Cal and Jane are definitely a fascinating and unusual couple ("my wife is a cereal killer") and I loved them for the part they played in Dream a Little Dream. So of course now I'm feeling the pull to relisten to both NBBM and DALD.

I love Kleypas' contemps and her historicals but Landor is a NoNo for me. Duerden's narration made me really happy. :)

Having given Lisa Kleypas' historicals several chances in print (about 8), and having decided her writing just doesn't do it for me, I have not wanted to listen to any of the audiobooks either. Mind you, I've listened to all her contemporaries and am a fan of those.

@Diana: Now you are tempting me into listening to Midnight Angel, even though my first Kleypas was Prince of Dreams which I didn't particularly like. And yet... knowing how a good narration can change the story, yep - I'm tempted! Stop! Stop tempting me!! LOL! (@Lea - you didn't tempt me with Stranger, sorry)

and yeah, as I said in my review, NBBM is always a debate-starter, with those who found Jane's behavior - and Cal's - to be way too off-putting piping up, often in outrage. I know, I felt that same outrage the first time, but I overlook it now! I'm just a glutton for SEP punishment - bring it on!! In my mind, she makes the outrageous seem possible - and funny - and touching - and even a little romantic.

Speaking of Rosalyn Landor - I too had a Balogh book work for me with her narration. MORE THAN A MISTRESS was quite enjoyable in audio - maybe that's because the hero WAS gruff? Anyway, I will talk about that positive experience at some time in the future officially in the column especially since I've voiced so much negativity in the past.

"Charlie All Night has just been released in hard format. The list includes new formats of existing audiobooks. Often we see a new digital format of an existing audio only available in CD/tape. And then we see hard releases of digital audios. Confusing – I know."

Ahh! Thanks for the explanation, Lea! For what it's worth, my daughter and I both enjoyed Charlie All Night. Light, with some classic Crusie dialog!

You're right about NBBM being a love or hate book. I can't get past the heroine or the premise, but my daughter thinks it's a great book. That's okay. she didn't care of The Cinderella Deal by Crusie, and I LOVE that book. (Great on audio, btw.) Tastes and tolerances are individual.

Speaking of Rosalyn Landor (we were, weren't we?) I just listened to Simply Love by Mary Balogh. The story isn't a light one, and I had a few quibbles with the story and with Landor's narration (her characters sounded affected), but overall it was a decent book.

<strong><a href="#comment-48714" rel="nofollow">Carrie</a></strong>: Of the books listed above I’ve read two in print (Iron Duke, which is a 5 star read for me) and Harvard’s education, which I enjoyed. the two I’ve listened to on audio re Stranger in My Arms and Nobody’s Baby. First, I hated the heroine in Stranger in my Arms, and it was a DNF on audio. I got the book from the library and skimmed to the end to get some questions answered ad ended up giving it two stars. I agree with the review above, both of the book and the narration.I couldn’t get through NBBM in print. I love SEP and I love Anna Field’s narration, but that didn’t save NBBM from being a fail for me on audio, too. I think it’s her weakest book of the CS series.I noticed Charlie All Night was listed in the December audiobook releases. I got that on Audible months ago.
</blockquote>

Although I don't take delight in your negative experience with Stranger in My Arms, I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

You know, it seems that NBBM is one book that people either love or dislike (hate). It hit my funny bone but I know some can't get past the heroine's deception or Cal's pushy ways. Every time I see it discussed, there are strong proponents for either side.
