I "discovered" the Lady Julia series by Deanna Raybourn and Lady Emily series by Tasha Alexander only earlier this year, and have finished all the books in both series already. I love both series immensely and was kind of surprised by how the heroines in both series resembled Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody to some extent. Even before reading this interview, I got the feeling that both Raybourn and Alexander are fans of the Amelia Peabody series.

I just downloaded the first in Anne Perry's series. I sampled it at audible, and the narrator sounds good.

Susan, I hope you enjoy the lady Emily books. I have really loved the series so far.

Maggie and Leigh, I really enjoyed the authors comments on being true to the time period. I know from reading the Pintoff and Alexander books that they do an incredible amount of research into the period.

Thanks, Lee, I had a fantastic time at the event.

I put a library hold on the first Emily Gray book. I've been meaning to try that series out.

My favorite Victorian mystery series it the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt novels by Anne Perry. She's got a very authentic feel to it, and they have an ongoing marriage, and are from different social classes.

{Quote="LinnieGayl"] All three authors agreed that they need to be authentic to the period, and can’t write as if people of the time didn’t mind the different classes mixing and marrying. [/quote]

Wish more historical romance authors felt this way. Not so much in the mixing of the classes but in being authentic to the period.
