The Vicar of Dibley

I used to watch a lot of sitcoms, but haven’t been a regular viewer of any for years. Recently, however, I happened on The Vicar of Dibley, and am now completely hooked on this hilarious show. My PBS channel is currently showing episodes from 1999. Since the show didn’t end until 2007, I have lots of viewing left.

So far, my favorite episode was Vicky’s wedding (and I so wish I could have found a clip of that one). But I love Geraldine’s chocolate addiction, so this clip will have to do.

Is anyone else a fan of this show? If so, who is your favorite character.

Did you mean Alice the verger’s wedding?
    It’s there on you tube.
I think that is my favourite eppy. Loved the Tellytubbie bridesmaids and the lit up tiara. Oh and the lady who erroneously tried to stop the wedding.
    The show is really missed.

Sheila, that’s exactly the episode I mean. i couldn’t find it on youtube, but will definitely look again. Loved the lady who almost stopped the wedding, and the bridesmaids!

I saw this for the first time on a trip to the UK and was ecstatic when our PBS channel started running it a few years ago. I bought the series on DVD. Hard to pick a favorite character…Alice or Jim…any of them….they do comedy to perfection. Alway fun to see the actors in other venues also. Look at Four Weddings and a Funeral for one and Harry Potter another. Favorite episode…Alice giving birth. I don’t want to say more in case you haven’t seen it. I wish Dawn French would come back and do more but it seems her personal life has had it’s ups and downs the last few years and she is semi retired. They would love her in the States…a shame no one ever offered her anything here. I love BritCom…wish they would show more of it. If you have never watched Keeping up With Appearances..Hyacinth Bucket and comapany…it’s another must see!

Thanks, Linda. I’m just furious right now. It appears that just when I got hooked, my PBS channel stopped showing it. I am so mad! I’m thinking I need to look for DVDs.
