I am a huge Lady GaGa fan. Yeah, she wears weird clothes and does strange things. I love it. My friends are sick of me talking about her freaky (but amazing) Bad Romance video.
But she’s more than just the creation of Haus of GaGa (her stylist/set designer/etc). Thanks to Perez Hilton, some vintage clips of her singing have been made public. This one, a performance at an NYU talent show, blew me away. You might knock the avant-garde outfits and bizarre performances, but you can’t deny she has talent.

There’s talent behind all the nonsense, but instead of BEING talented, she’s become a joke, a gimmick…pure hype. Madonna has done the same thing to a lesser degree, but she’s the exception to the rule, and this type of weirdness tends to shorten a career than than extend it. What has happened to those that came before? 99% of them have faded away into has-been category.
For those that want really long careers, you don’t date yourself with this kind of silliness or cart a dumb teacup around in public.
